GAINESVILLE - Three area businesses received Industry of the Year Awards Tuesday at the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce's annual event at the Chattahoochee Country Club.
AdEdge Water Technologies, Mansfield Energy Corp. and Fieldale Farms Corp. all received Industry of the Year Awards in the small, medium and large business categories, respectively.
Mansfield Energy Corp. CEO Michael Mansfield said he was honored to receive the award on behalf of his company and was proud of their accomplishments.
"I think we have done a good job building our technologies around the customers' needs and also the amount of time and effort we put into employee training," said Mansfield.
In addition to the Industry of the Year Award winners, Zebra Technologies Corp. received the Environmental Stewardship Award. Baldor Electric received the Safety Recognition Award, Cargill Inc. received the Employer Recognition Award and Syfan Logistics Inc. was recognized with the Corporate Citizenship Award.
Gus Whalen was the featured speaker at the annual Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce event, and he spoke to the significance of the day's honorees.
"I hope that today we have a heightened sense of just how important manufacturing and manufacturing jobs are to the United States," he said.
Whalen said today's business leaders must be willing to adapt to change and not be afraid to actively participate in the future in their company and in the community as a whole.
"It's so easy to be overwhelmed by the problems of the day in almost anything, but one thing everybody can do is to use their unique talent... by participating in your community in a way that makes this community unique," he said.
The event was sponsored by Lanier Technical College.
