DEMOREST -- The Piedmont Volleyball team won in dominating fashion against local rival Toccoa Falls, sweeping the Screaming Eagles 3-0 in the team's home opener Wednesday. Sid Feldman's Lady Lions' (3-2) final set was their best of the night tallying 14 kills and only five errors for a .300 attack percentage as a team while holding Toccoa Falls to a negative attack percentage in the set.

Piedmont opened with a convincing 25-16 victory in the first set but was matched nearly point for point in the second set, eventually coming away with a 25-21 win. In that second set, there were 8 ties and 4 lead changes, while in the first and third sets Piedmont held the lead the entire time. In the third and final set, the Lady Lions left no doubt who was in charge with a decisive 25-12 victory to take the match.

Reigning USA South Offensive Player of the Week Kaitlin Norman showed up big for the Lady Lions in the final two sets recording a team high 8 kills and an attack percentage of .533. Mallory Leary and Caroline Black both tallied 6 kills with Leary coming out hot with 6 kills on 7 attempts for an .857 attack percentage.

Senior Katie Faith led the way with 24 digs while Heather LaPrade had a team high 16 assists and freshman Kait Steele was right behind with 13. Overall, Feldman was able to play 16 of his 19 athletes on the roster with all 8 newcomers seeing time in Cave Arena for the first time Wednesday.

Piedmont has now won the last 10 straight against the Screaming Eagles dating back to 2006 and in that time has only lost two sets to Toccoa Falls, making it a 30-2 run by the Lady Lions. In the last two meetings between these squads, PC has won convincingly taking five of the last six sets by at least seven points.

The Lady Lions are now 3-2 on the season and will return to tournament action this weekend on the road at fellow USA South member Greensboro for the Greensboro College Invitational. Piedmont will take the court Saturday at noon for their first match of the tourney against Agnes Scott College.
