Two injured in Lake Lanier boat collision
GAINESVILLE - A Labor Day boating accident on Lake Lanier sent two people to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center according to Gainesville Fire Division Chief Keith Smith.
Smith said the incident happened between 9:30 and 10:00 Monday morning on the Chattahoochee River portion of the lake near the Dawsonville Highway bridge.
"One person was seriously injured," Smith reported, "...and the other injury was non-life threatening."
Gainesville emergency personnel accessed the victims from Sportsman Club Road off of Highway 53.
"From what our personnel gathered there were two boats that collided," Smith said.
Smith said some bystanders in nearby boats helped with the rescue, taking rescue crew members to the injured from the Sportsman Club access point.
Smith said Hall County emergency personnel assisted with the rescue.
The incident is under investigation.
