CLAYTON - A two-vehicle wreck in heavy rain claimed the life of a North Carolina woman and injured six others Saturday afternoon near Clayton.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, 64-year-old Reba Sue Worley of Franklin, N.C., died of injuries in the wreck involving the Nissan pickup driven by her husband.
The husband, whose name wasn't given, was seriously injured and was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital, according to GSP.
The Nissan pickup was northbound on U.S. Highway 441 just south of Clayton about 5:50 p.m. when the truck crossed the grass median during heavy rain and struck a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 35-year-old Benito Vargas.
Five people in the Tahoe were injured, and were taken to the hospital in Rabun County.
All occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts, GSP reports.
The investigation is continuing.
