Police release names in Lawrenceville murder-suicide
By The Associated Press
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) Gwinnett County police said they believe a man stabbed his former wife to death and cut her mother before he used a gun to take his own life.
Gwinnett County police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said the two women were found stabbed around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, when officers were sent to Lawrenceville.
Police said the dispute began in a house on Chris Lake Drive and spilled out into the street. They said a neighbor saw the commotion and fired at least one gunshot at the suspect, who fled the scene.
Police said the suspect, Chhay Hour, 60, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 6 p.m. Thursday at Norcross Gun Club and Range on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
Hour's former wife, Chheng Voight, 37, was killed in the initial attack.
The dead woman's mother, Ya Van, 59, was taken to a hospital. She is expected to recover from her injuries, according to police.
Two young children inside the home were turned over to a relative, according to police.
