Charter doubling Internet speeds in Ga.
Following up its recent move to an all-digital network, Charter Communications is doubling Internet speeds, boosting its high-definition (HD) channel lineup and rolling out a new top tier of services for customers in Georgia.
The new suite of digital services titled Charter Spectrum includes a jump in Internet speeds from30 Mbps to 60 Mbps for most customers at no additional cost. Customers are also gaining access to more than 200 HD video channels and advanced voice service that includes unlimited nationwide calling.
Company officials say the flagship Internet speeds are now 20 times faster than standard DSL, and the HD channel lineup is the largest available from any video services provider in the market.
Charter began its local move to an all-digital network in April as part of $19 million in recent capital investment to its Georgia operations. In all, the company is investing more than $2 billion in its national network and is committed to moving to an all-digital platform across its entire 29-state footprint by the end of 2014.
Charter has an office in Gainesville and is the primary cable television franchisee in the city and Hall County.
