Three area schools make state's 'Alert' list

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Education released the list of 2014 Alert Schools on Tuesday as part of the state’s waiver from the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

51 schools are on the list statewide.

Schools in our area making the list include:

~Hall County: Oakwood Elementary School and West Hall High School
~Habersham County: 9th Grade Academy

Alert School Definition:

~A Title I or non-Title I school in the state
~Based on the lowest achievement of the “all students” group in terms of proficiency on the statewide assessments
~Has demonstrated a lack of progress on those assessments over three years in the “all students” group
~May not be identified as a Priority School or Focus School
