August events at the Northeast Georgia History Center
GAINESVILLE - Events planned this month at the Northeast Georgia History Center:
Tuesday, August 12, 7 p.m. History Forum: The Gainesville Northwestern Railway
LineChris Brooks will present information on the railway line and how it
served sawmills in the Helen, GA area. Admission is free for History Center

Sunday, August 17, 1- 4 p.m. Family Day: We’ve Been Working on the Railroad
View railroad history of the Northeast Georgia region through exhibits of
artifacts, memorabilia, and photos. Special exhibits include a working
model train; local railway café, The Big ear Café; and Operation Lifesaver
Railroad Safety. Participate in interactive exhibits of railroad tools and
communication, make railroad crafts, and more. Admission is free, courtesy of
