GHCC to host health care reform update Aug. 12
GAINESVILLE - It seems there's something new regarding the new health care law every week, either from the White House or the courts.
To keep the community up to date on the latest information and with the next open enrollment period for the Health Insurance Marketplace starting in November, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce has scheduled another in its periodic updates on the Affordable Healthcare Act.
Speakers will provide the latest regulations and navigate through the legislation to help employers develop an action plan for their companies. The meeting will be Tuesday, August 12 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 at the Brenau Downtown Center (formerly the Georgia Mountains Center).
“Healthcare Reform – What You Need to Know”
Speaker: Brett Fowler, Vice President & Partner, Turner, Wood & Smith Insurance
Fowler will cover 2014-2015 individual requirements, enrollment procedures and purchasing options, along with a Health Insurance Marketplace review and affordable insurance strategies.
“PPACA: Impact of Providing Health Insurance to Employees”
Speaker: Rich Sanders, Attorney, The Sanders Law Firm and Adjunct Faculty Member, Emory University
Sanders, named a “Top Rated Lawyer in Healthcare Law” in 2013, will give an overview of minimum value and affordability along with employer responsibilities, penalties and key Play or Pay rules for 2015. He will review Non Discrimination Rules and Safe Harbors for Employers.
“Employer Wellness Strategies”
Speaker: Will Clower, Ph.D., Founder & CEO, Mediterranean Wellness

“Population Health Management”

Steve McNeilly will define Population Health Management and explain the benefits of the integration of hospital/physician care to create efficiencies, improve care, and lower cost for employers.
