CUMMING - The Cherokee County Animal Shelter needs community help after taking in hundreds of dogs after a puppy mill bust near Cumming last week.

Susan Garcia, Director of the shelter, says the items they need have been organized on an Amazon wishlist.

"We have specific items on the Amazon wishlist and the list on our website," said Garcia. "We change the Amazon wish list as the needs need to be addressed so we try to only get specifically what we need."

The wishlist includes items varying from pet food to shredded bedding.

"There's specific foods for the size of the dogs; there's paper towels, gloves; dry-erase things to help separate stuff on the cages; different food; towels; newspaper is always welcome; shredded paper that's the long shreds , not the cross cut; various items like that that always help," Garcia said.

Garcia said since the emergency intake situation, the community has helped out quite a bit by sending things from the wishlist. "The outpouring from the community, and everywhere at large, across the country has been wonderful and enormous and very appreciated and helpful."

According to the shelter's Facebook page, the animals from the emergency intake are not currently for adoption.

The wishlist and website for the shelter are linked below.
