FLOWERY BRANCH - A developer is hoping to breathe new life into an 18-acre tract of land near downtown Flowery Branch that was to have been a town home community when it was originally proposed.

According to a published agenda for a public hearing Monday, July 21, McGowan Family Partnership has made application to rezone an 18-acre parcel of property on Lights Ferry Road from R-III (multi-family) to PUD (planned unit development). The developer has said rezoning the property to allow for 98 single family homes will be more marketable than the 157 town homes originally proposed for the site.

A public hearing and first reading on the proposal is set for 6 p.m. Monday.

A second reading and vote on the development change is scheduled for Thursday, July 24 at 6 p.m.

Both meetings will be held at Flowery Branch City Hall.
