Lightning sparked fires damaged homes on Creekview Bluff Way, Northeast in Buford and Kings Cross Way in Hoschton Friday evening.
BUFORD - As early evening storms pounded portions of Gwinnett County Friday evening, firefighters scrambled to two house fires they believe were the result of lightning strikes.
According to acting Gwinnett County Fire Department Public Information Officer Eric Eberly, firefighters first responded to a house on Creekview Bluff Way, Northeast in Buford.
He said the fire caused moderate damage to the attic area, with smoke and water damage to parts of the main living area. The call came just before 7:00 p.m. Eberly described the fire and weather conditions as intense while crews worked the fire.
A second fire displaced three people in Hoschton, including a child.
Eberly said that call came around 7:30 p.m. to a house on Kings Cross Way. He described damage there as significant to the attic and moderate in the living area.
Gwinnett and Forsyth counties were under a flash flood warning all evening because of heavy rain from the storms.
