CLERMONT - A child care center has had their license revoked by Bright from the Start Friday afternoon following a child that was allegedly burned while in their care.

"Earlier this afternoon, we issued a license revocation for Discovering Basics... on Friday, June 20th, if you remember, we issued an order for intended emergency closure to this facility after the investigation determined that children attending the center were in imminent danger," said Reg Griffin, Chief Communications Officer of the Department of Early Care and Learning.

Griffin said the facility has 10 days to appeal the decision to an administrative law judge with the office of state administrative hearings.

Discovering Basics Child Care Center in Clermont is the subject of an incident in which a toddler allegedly suffered second and third degree burns at the facility and did not receive medical treatment until his mother came to pick him up. The center's owner, Minnie "Sue" Dupree, her daughter and site director Tara Miller and employee Eddye Pittmon were arrested in connection with the incident.

Earlier Friday, the three had their cases bound over to Hall County Superior Court. A previous story is linked below.
