Cameron pleads guilty in 2013 Habersham murder

CLARKESVILLE - A man accused of shooting to death his younger brother in January 2013 entered a guilty plea in Habersham County Superior Court Monday.
Christopher Nicholas Cameron, 29, entered the negotiated plea before Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Russell W. Smith.
Cameron entered a guilty but mentally ill plea to the charge of felony murder. He will serve a life sentence with the possibility of parole in about 30 years.
Under the plea, the malice murder and aggravated assault charges against Cameron were nolle prossed, meaning prosecutors agreed not to pursue them.
Cameron, who initially represented himself, was represented in the plea by appointed attorney Ernest H. "Bucky" Woods III.
Michael Cameron, 22, was shot twice in a bedroom at his parents' home near Cornelia around 1:25 in the afternoon on Jan. 18, 2013. He was airlifted, but died a short time later.
