Federal agency to upgrade Toccoa infrastructure
By The Associated Press
TOCCOA, Ga. (AP) The U.S. Department of Commerce is investing $1.42 million to upgrade Toccoa's water and sewer system in hopes that the improvements will encourage economic growth.
Officials said Wednesday that upgrading the infrastructure is expected to serve local manufacturing businesses including an automotive parts company and help the area attract new investment and jobs.
The investment is being made by the U.S. Economic Development Administration. This branch of the Department of Commerce is responsible for investing in economically distressed areas to create jobs.
