GAINESVILLE - Lt. Kenneth Ward of the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) has been presented with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice's (DJJ) “Above & Beyond” Award for dedication to the agency and its juvenile justice reform mission.
“This special award was designed to bring distinctive recognition to DJJ Staff who have gone the “extra mile” to help make DJJ a better workplace for everyone,” said djj Commissioner Avery D. Niles.
Ward was nominated by Gainesville RYDC Director Chuck Hewett. Hewett’s nomination describes Lt. Ward as “making great strides in every aspect as Administrative Lieutenant” and “consistently improving the RYDC.”
“Lt. Ward strives to set the standard and displays leadership qualities that make a lasting impression on new officers,” the nomination said. “He is the epitome of the kind of officer that DJJ needs.”
Niles said qualifying for this level of staff recognition is part of achieving “Best Practices” at the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
