No sign of missing Gilmer Co. man since Sunday night

ELLIJAY - Gilmer County authorities have released a new photo of an Alzheimer's patient who has been missing since late Sunday night, hoping the public can help find Earl Townsend.

According to published information from the Gilmer County Sheriff's Office, search crews re-established a command center Tuesday morning as they continued efforts to find the 68-year-old Townsend.

Townsend, who goes by the nick-name 'Tater', was last seen in the Ridgeway Church Road area, about 12 miles outside of Ellijay off Highway 282.

Authorities have used K-9 units and the Georgia State Patrol helicopter in their search efforts.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Townsend is asked to call the Gilmer County Sheriff's Office or 911.
