CLAYTON - Four people remain jailed in Rabun County after a recent investigation into illegal drug activity at a Clayton home.
On Thursday, June 5, Mountain Narcotics Criminal Investigation and Suppression (NCIS) Team agents from Rabun, Habersham and Stephens County and the City of Toccoa, working in conjunction with the Rabun County Sheriff's Office and Clayton Police Department, followed up on information received from a concerned citizen regarding drug activity at 197 Paris St., Clayton.
Four arrests resulted from the surveillance established on the home and subsequent traffic stops on vehicles that stopped at the resident for only short periods of time.
Officials say those traffic stops yielded the seizure of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, and U.S. currency.
A search warrant for the residence, obtained as a result of the traffic stops, resulted in the seizure of additional meth and prescription pills.
Those arrested as a result of the investigation include:
* Holly Beth Alexander, 29, of Clayton, charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and a misdemeanor probation violation. Bond information for Alexander is not available.
* Alexander James Cline, 23, of Clayton, charged with possession of methamphetamine. Bond has been set at $5,500.
* Michael Joe McCannon, 33, of Clayton, charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II narcotic, possession of a Schedule III narcotic, and possession of a Schedule IV narcotic. Bond has been set at $22,000.
* Ronald Wyatt Welch, 19, of Clayton, who is charged with possession of a Schedule II narcotic and possession of an illegal substance. Bond is set at $16,200.
