Hall private school announces plans to move, expand
FLOWERY BRANCH - North Georgia Christian School is celebrating their 30th anniversary, but the next thirty years will include a move onto an expanded campus on Poplar Springs Road.
The K-12 school's Board Chairman, Al Gainey, reports that the acquisition of 140-acres was successfully completed last month as part of the first phase of a $10.2 million capital fund-raising program.
Gainey said more than $3 million of that goal has been raised to date.
"This land purchase is a major milestone in North Georgia Christian School's journey to becoming a model regional private school and center for world Christian leadership," Gainey said.
Currently the school's campus is located at the Chestnut Mountain Church on Highway 53 in Flowery Branch.
The school began in 1984 as Westminster Christian School in Gainesville and now serves over 220 children from 10 northeast Georgia counties. The future campus will provide sufficient room to expand the student body fourfold to an enrollment over one thousand.
Gainey said that the Board of Trustees reviewed over fifty possible sites before choosing the Poplar Springs location. Part of the consideration for their choice was the generous donation by the former land owners, Dale and Jackie Nabb.
