UNG supporting food service program

DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia is participating in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service Program, and will be providing meals free of charge to eligible children in Lumpkin, Hall and Forsyth counties.

Children who are part of households that receive food stamps or benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible to receive free meals.

Only those 18 or younger are eligible. However, those 22 or younger who have a mental or physical disability as determined by an educational agency and who participate in a school program for the mentally or physically disabled are also eligible to receive meals.

The sites being served and their dates and times of operation in Cumming are:

Forsyth County School Bus: Parking lot at Saxony Place Apartments, 101-103 14th Street, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This site began operation June 2 and will end operation Aug. 1.
Forsyth County School Bus Bald Ridge: 105 Ridgeview Circle, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. This site began operation June 2 and will end operation Aug. 1.
Meals by Grace: 537 Lake Center Parkway #549, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This site began operation June 2 and will end operation Aug. 1.
YMCA: 2210 Turner Road, from noon to 1:30 p.m. This site began operation June 2 and will end operation Aug. 1.
The sites being served and their dates and times of operation in Gainesville are:

Downey Street Boys and Girls Club: 1 Positive Place, first meal from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., second meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Site begins operation June 30 and will end operation July 28.
Walters Boys and Girls Club: 2194 Memorial Park Drive, first meal from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., second meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Site began operation June 2 and will end operation July 18.
RISE: 854 Davis St., first meal from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., second meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Site began operation June 9 and will end operation July 25.
RISE Fair Street: 695 Fair St., first meal from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., second meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Site begins operation July 7 and will end operation July 25.
Greater A Manger: 960 Cooley Drive, from noon to 1:30 p.m. This site began operation June 2 and will end operation July 24.
New Town Florist: 1581 Community Way, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This site began operation June 9 and will end operation July 24.
Lyman Hall Elementary School: 2150 Memorial Park Drive, first meal from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., second meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Site began operation June 2 and will end operation July 18.

The sites being served and their dates and times of operation in Dahlonega are:

Lumpkin County Band Camp: 2001 Indian Drive, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This site will begin operation on July 28 and will end operation on Aug. 1.
Wellington: 57 Lion Court, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This site began operation on June 3 and will end operation on July 31.
