GAINESVILLE – No injuries have been reported following a small fire inside a Gainesville duplex Monday evening.

According to Hall County Fire Marshall Scott Cagle, firefighters were called to the scene at #10 Georgia Avenue shortly before 7 p.m.

Upon arrival, Cagle said crews encountered a 2,500-square-foot duplex with smoke showing from a single unit. Crews from both Gainesville and Hall County were able to knock the fire down quickly, restricting the damage to the area of a bedroom and closet.

The initial damage estimate for the effected unit was approximately $2,000, according to Cagle.

Cagle said there were three individuals inside the residence at the time of the fire, but all three were able to escape the building without injury.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but Cagle said there was nothing to indicate any suspicious activity.
