Toccoa raids yield marijuana, cocaine and meth

TOCCOA - Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell reports that his officers and the Mountain Narcotics Criminal Investigation and Suppression Team made several arrests during the execution of search warrants at two locations in the city Thursday night.

Jarrell said the first search warrant was executed at 94 Elberton St., resulting in the seizure of 1.2 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $3,200, and of U.S. Currency.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Jeffrey Smith of Toccoa for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; and 28-year-old James Mackey of Toccoa for distribution of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The second search warrant, also executed in the early evening hours, was at Forest Avenue Apartments, resulted in the seizure of U.S. Currency, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and prescription pills.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Michael McIntyre of Toccoa for possession of cocaine, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a Schedule III narcotic. Also arrested was 18-year-old Kayla Danielle Sangster of Toccoa for possession of cocaine, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a Schedule III narcotic.

"This is another example proving what can be accomplished when citizens partner with the police department to rid their communities of drugs and drug-related problems," Jarrell said. "We are extremely proud of the assistance our citizens provide us in helping rid their communities of this criminal activity."

All four of those arrested were booked into the Stephens County Jail.

McIntyre, Mackey and Sangster remained incarcerated Monday.

Bond for McIntyre is set at $64,000; bond for Mackey is set at $40,000; and bond for Sangster is set at $34,000. No information was available about Smith's bond status Monday.
