CLAYTON - Two people were arrested in Clayton Saturday following a reported robbery in Mountain City.

Rabun County Sheriff Frank Andrews reports that Mountain City Police Lt. Cary Brown stopped a car driven by Clare Wilmot.

Wilmot told Brown she had been robbed at gunpoint by a male and female after the pair sprayed some type of eye irritant in her face and eyes, Andrews reports. The man and woman demanded her purse.

Brown contacted the Rabun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division and Lt. Jack Tanksley began investigating the incident.

Tanksley identified the suspects as Maryann Kinsey and Wesley Roberts, both of whom were stopped and arrested by Clayton police.

Kinsey and Roberts each face a charge of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault, and remain in the Rabun County Detention Center.
