GAINESVILLE - Hall County has recorded its tenth confirmed case of rabies for the year - this time in a bat found inside a home in the city of Gainesville.

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia said it had received word from the county that the rabid bat was discovered inside a house on Blue Ridge Drive.

The Humane Society said it offers rabies vaccines for $10 each, Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at our Wellness Clinic. We currently are unable to offer rabies vaccines on Friday. Questions? Visit www.HSNEGA.org or 770-532-6617.

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid bat was located. If you live in this area or you see an animal acting abnormally in the area, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or, during non-working hours, call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
