Ingles pharmacy robbed, suspect arrested
FLOWERY BRANCH – A Winder man has been arrested following the robbery of the Ingles Market pharmaceutical department on Winder Highway Monday night.
According to Nicole Bailes, Public Information Officer for the Hall County Sheriff’s Department, 42-year-old Denny Russell, Jr. was arrested Tuesday on charges of robbery by intimidation and terroristic threats.
Bailes said that Russell crossed the pharmacy counter while demanding specific types of narcotic medication from the pharmacist. After receiving the medications, Russell then fled the store, at which point he encountered another Ingles employee in the store’s parking lot.
The employee was apparently threatened by Russell with a firearm, although no weapon is believed to have actually been brandished by the suspect. Russell then fled the premises in a silver Ford Taurus.
Following a brief investigation into the initial incident, authorities were able to determine the identity of the suspect and warrants were quickly obtained for his arrest.
Bailes said no injuries were reported in the matter, and the incident remains under investigation.
