GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville-based Georgia Retired Educators Association signed the papers this week to borrow about $ 900,000 in order to begin construction on a new State Office/Museum Building in Flowery Branch.

GREA Executive Director Bill Sloan says the museum will be dedicated to Public Education in Georgia and "we hope to make it a really great facility to honor our profession. I believe only two other states have a museum dedicated to the education profession."

Sloan added that the 24,000 members of GREA raised $500,000 out of their own pockets in about five years in order to purchase the land across from the Atlanta Falcons complex.
