Spring Commencement begins Thurs. at Piedmont; Schofield to speak at one ceremony

DEMOREST - Piedmont College will celebrate Commencement 2014 with three days of events and ceremonies at the campus in Demorest May 1–3.
At 6 p.m., Thursday, May 1, in the Swanson Center, Piedmont’s Daniel School of Nursing will present pins to 38 graduating student nurses.
On Friday, May 2, in the Chapel at 5 p.m., the college will hold a Baccalaureate service for all undergraduates. The guest speaker will be Dr. James Gertmenian, senior minister of Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis, Minn.
On Saturday, May 3, the Commencement ceremony for all undergraduates will begin at 10 a.m. in the Mize Center. The Commencement speaker will be Dr. Jamil Zainaldin, president of the Georgia Humanities Council. Board Chairman Thomas A. “Gus” Arrendale III and President James F. Mellichamp will present diplomas to some 171 undergraduates receiving the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Health Sciences degrees
A separate Commencement ceremony for 300 graduate students will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, also in the Mize Center. The Commencement speaker will be Will Schofield, Superintendent of the Hall County School System, who is also scheduled to speak at one of the University of North Georgia's graduation ceremonies next weekend. Graduates will receive the Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Education, Education Specialist and Education Doctor degrees.
