Hall Co. looking for poll workers

GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Board of Elections is seeking poll workers for the upcoming elections, according to Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee.

Anyone who is hired should plan on a long day, 6:00 a.m. until about 9:30 p.m., and will be required to attend a two-hour training class prior to each election.

Positions available:

Clerk ($8/hr)
• Must be a resident of Hall County
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must have successfully attended and completed the training class conducted by the Hall County Board of Elections before each election
• Must assist with setting up polling places


Assistant Manager ($9/hr)
• Must be willing to serve as Manager if requested by the Board of Elections office
• Must have served as a Clerk in at least two elections in Hall County
• Must have own transportation to pick up election supplies and/or equipment and bringing same to check-in center, and be able to lift at least 20 lbs.

Chief Manager ($10/hr)
• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
• Must have served in at least two elections in Hall County as an Assistant Manager
• Must have successfully attended and completed the training class conducted by the Hall County Board of Elections before each election
• Must have own transportation to pick up election supplies and/or equipment and bringing same to check-in center and be able to lift at least 20 lbs.

Qualifications:
• Must be a judicious, intelligent, and upright citizen of the United States
• Must be 16 years of age or over
• Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
• Must be a resident of Hall County
• Must be able to withstand at least a 14-hour day of work
• Must have a general knowledge of computers
• Must attend a mandatory training session and be willing to abide by and carry out all election laws and procedures at the polling place

NOTE: No Poll Officer shall be a candidate for an election, an elected official, or close relative of candidates, including thecandidate’s parent, spouse, child, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, orsister-in-law where the candidate’s name appears on the ballot. However, a Poll Officer may serve in a primary in which he seeks election to a political party office unless prohibited by the rules of the political party conducting the primary. Georgia Election Code Section 21-2-8 states that no person convicted of a felony shall serve as a Poll Officer unless his civil rights have been restored.
