ATLANTA -- The Chestatee girls fell to Class AAAA defending state champion Marist Wednesday in the first round of the state playoffs.

Marist won 3-0, picking up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and at No. 2 doubles.

The Lady War Eagles completed their most successful in program history behind seniors Lily Kiang, Fernanda Arcaraz, Carolina Gijon, Melanie Smith and Adasery Osorno. That group led Chestatee to two straight state tournaments, for only the second and third time since the school opened in 2002.

The War Eagles do return juniors Haley King, Grace Brown and Tyler Bennett and sophomore Natalie McNitt for next season.
