HOMER - The Banks County Sheriff's Office has released information about a pandering sting conducted last week at a hotel in Banks Crossing.

On Thursday, the department made six arrests in connection with the investigation.

Those arrested include:

* James Lamar Brown, 46, of Bowersville, for pandering;

* Jerry Edward Campbell, 48, of Winder, for pandering and possession of marijuana;

* Andre Montellus Carter, 52, of Grayson, for pandering;

* Michael Charles Faust, 43, of Athens, for pandering;

* Kush Shavad Phatak, 45, of Tallulah Falls, for pandering and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; and

* Deneko Dandrell Tanner, 38, of Winterville, for pandering.

"With this being our third operation in a year, we have found that criminals are beginning to be hesitant to travel to Banks Crossing due to the proactivity of our agency," said Sgt. Carissa McFaddin. "Our ultimate goal is for it to be common knowledge that Banks County is not the place to bring this type of business."

Sheriff Carlton Speed said his office will not tolerate criminal activity in the county.

"We're extremely passionate about protecting our community," Speed said. "By conducting these operations, we're not only cracking down on this type of crime, but we're also attempting to prevent more serious criminal activities from occurring."

Anyone with information about criminal activity in Banks County can report it to the sheriff's office at (706) 677-2248.
