Day and night work will continue next week on I-85, I-985
GAINESVILLE – The Georgia Department of Transportation will be working night and day on Interstate 985 and Interstate 85 again next week in northeast Georgia, if weather permits. All work will require a lane closure.
This is a tentative schedule:
WHEN: Crews will work Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25. Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. if weather permits. Overnight work hours are 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
*985, WHAT & WHERE:
Interstate 985 northbound only in Hall County – A contractor will remove damaged concrete and pour new concrete, closing the right lane of I-985 from SR 347, Exit 8 to Spout Springs Road, Exit 12. Work is scheduled to occur every night that weather allows for the next several weeks from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning.
*85 WHAT & WHERE:
I-85 northbound only in Jackson County – A crew will be repairing the driving surface or bridge deck on three bridges on Interstate 85 northbound between SR 53/Exit 129 and SR 11/US 129/Exit 137. The bridges are over Walnut Creek, the CSX Railroad and the Middle Oconee River. Crews will start at Walnut Creek, the southern most of the three bridges. Then move to the Railroad Bridge and last to the northern most bridge over the Middle Oconee River.
I-85 in Franklin County – A crew will seal cracks on Interstate 85 northbound, beginning at SR 51/Sandy Cross Road/Exit 160 and work north.
Work on these two projects began last week.
