DAHLONEGA -– Cameron Crawford's three-hit outing from the plate fueled the University of North Georgia baseball team's 7-4 Peach Belt Conference win over visiting Young Harris College on Friday evening at UNG's Bob Stein Stadium. The game was the first of a three-game Peach Belt Conference series between the two schools.

North Georgia opened the scoring in the bottom half of the second inning when an RBI double by Cameron Crawford scored Kevin Krupp.

After reaching on a fielding miscue to lead off the bottom of the Nighthawks' third inning, Tremayne Toorie scored an unearned run on a passed ball to extend the UNG lead to 2-0.

Young Harris plated four runs in the top of the fourth beginning with an RBI single by Trey Rogers, but the bulk of the damage was done by a three-run homerun over the right-center field fence by Dom Wyshinski.

North Georgia evened the score at four apiece in the sixth after loading the bases with just one out. Crawford induced an RBI walk before a sacrifice fly by Nick Vinson scored Krupp.

The Nighthawks extended their lead to 7-4 in the seventh inning with three runs on just a pair of hits. Travis Naraine led off the frame with a walk marking his 31st consecutive game reaching base safely. He later scored on a wild pitch.

An RBI ground out by Krupp scored Spivey before a bunt single down the third base line by Joey Cecere allowed Andrew Gordon to score. All three Nighthawks that scored in the inning reached base courtesy of a walk.

Brandon Agar (5-4) earned the win on the mound for North Georgia striking out five while scattering seven hits over seven innings of work. YHC's Justin Cooper's overall record evens out a 4-4 after taking the loss.

Christian Turnipseed collected his league-leading 10th save of the season after pitching the final two innings.

Josh Rudnik led the YHC offense with a pair of hits.

The two teams will play the second game of the league series tomorrow (April 12) with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
