BRASELTON - Braselton joins cities throughout Georgia to celebrate “Georgia Cities Week 2014” and its theme, People Place Purpose.

The town will host volunteers Saturday (April 12) for its fifth annual Rivers Alive cleanup along the Mulberry River, local streams and roadsides. Anyone interested may gather at 9:00 AM at the Braselton Community Room adjacent to Town Hall for supplies and assignments. Additional information is available at 706.654-3915 ext. 1012.

On Tuesday, April 15, the town’s Adopt-A-Stream program will be honored as Georgia’s outstanding environmental initiative at Zoo Atlanta. Yvette Wise, the town’s environmental specialist, will accept the award sponsored by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.

Appointees to the town’s agencies, authorities and commissions will be feted at a reception hosted by the Mayor and Council on Thursday at Chateau Elan.

Commenting on the ‘People Place Purpose’ theme, town manager Jennifer Dees said, “A town is defined by its people, and we are so fortunate to have a large, diverse group of always willing and able volunteers to assist the town in creating Braselton as the best place to call home for our residents and businesses.”
