Belk bringing free mammograms to Gainesville, Cumming

The BelkGives on the Go Mobile Mammography Center, a 39-foot-long, state-of-the-art screening center on wheels, will stop soon at Belk stores in Canton, Cumming, Gainesville and McDonough to offer free, convenient mammogram screenings.

Women age 40 and over with no breast concerns, who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months and have a primary care physician are eligible by calling 855-655-BMMC (2662) to schedule an appointment. The time and locations are:

Tuesday, April 22
9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Belk – 1447 Riverstone Parkway, Canton

Thursday, April 24
9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Belk – 520 Lakeland Plaza, Cumming

Saturday, April 26
9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Belk – 150 Pearl Nix Parkway, Gainesville

Tuesday, April 29
9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Belk – 1800 Jonesboro Road, McDonough

All screening exams are performed by Charlotte, N.C., Radiology’s licensed, female mammography-certified technologists. A board-certified radiologist, specialized in breast imaging will interpret the mammogram. Confidential results will be sent to the patient and her primary care physician.

Belk officials say the mobile unit has served more than 4,500 women and detected 14 cases of cancer throughout the Southeast in its first year. It recently visited Toccoa and Cornelia.
