GDOT plans some overnight lane closures this week on I-985

GAINESVILLE, GA – The Georgia Department of Transportation announces routine maintenance activities planned for this week in northeast Georgia. It will include overnight work on I-985 which will result in some lane closures. (See below under Hall County.)

WHEN: Crews will work Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11. Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. if weather permits. Lane closures are required for patching asphalt, a flagman or pilot vehicle will direct traffic through the work zone.

WHAT & WHERE:

Dawson – A crew will fill cracks in the driving surface of the roadway on SR 183. A lane closure is required as this work occurs.

Forsyth – A crew will fill cracks in the asphalt on SR 141. A lane closure is required as this work occurs and delays are expected. Another crew will inspect the drainage system for SR 306 and SR 141, the shoulder will be closed as this work occurs.

Gwinnett –Damaged fencing alongside I-85 will be repaired. Another crew will trim vegetation growing in the rights of way alongside SR 13 and SR 8/US 29. The shoulder will be closed as this work occurs. Another crew will repaint faded striping at the intersection of SR 316 and Fence Road, a lane closure is required as this work occurs.

Hall – A crew will repair the shoulders of the roadway and the slopes in the rights of way alongside SR 211, SR 53 and SR 323. The shoulder will be closed as this work occurs. An herbicide will be sprayed in rights of way on SR 60, SR 11/US 129 and SR 369, the shoulder of the roadways will be closed as this work occurs.

Interstate 985 northbound only – A contractor will remove damaged concrete and pour new concrete, closing the right lane of I-985 from SR 347, Exit 8 to Spout Springs Road, Exit 12. Work is scheduled to occur nightly beginning Sunday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as weather allows.

Franklin – A crew will seal cracks on Interstate 85, lane closures will occur as this work occurs.

Hart – A crew will seal cracks in the driving surface of SR 51. A lane closure is required as this work occurs. Another crew will rebuild the shoulders alongside SR 77 Connector. A lane and the shoulder of the roadway will be closed as this work occurs.

Madison – Crews will rebuild and repair the shoulders and slopes alongside SR 98,SR 8, SR 172, SR 72 and SR 106. A lane closure will be required for this work.

Stephens –A crew will replace damaged overhead signs on SR 17. A lane closure is required as this work occurs.

Barrow – A crew will fill in cracks in the driving surface of SR 81. A lane closure is required as this work occurs. Another crew will clean and restore the drainage ditches alongside SR 8. The shoulder will be closed as this work occurs.

Clarke – The shoulders of SR 10 Loop and SR 8 will be repaired. A lane and one shoulder will be closed as this work occurs.

Oconee – A crew will mow the slopes in the rights of way alongside SR 15. The shoulder will be closed as this work occurs.

Walton – Edge rutting will be repaired alongside SR 10 and SR 81. Vegetation in the rights of way will be trimmed in rights of way alongside SR 20. Shoulder closures are required for each of these maintenance activities. The curbing and gutters alongside State Route 11 will be hand swept to remove debris and improve drainage.
