DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County authorities have arrested a convenience store clerk for selling synthetic marijuana - not inside the store - but in his vehicle in the store parking lot.

Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten says 28-year-old Dinesh Ramasamy of Dahlonega faces four counts of felony distribution of a controlled substance.

"While he was at work, he'd go out in the parking lot and he was moving it [synthetic pot]," said Wooten. "We don't believe there was any knowledge or involvement on the part of the store owner."

The alleged sales happened in the parking lot of Sanky's at Georgia 400 and Highway 53 in January. The arrest did not happen until last week because authorities were awaiting test results from the Georgia Bureau of investigation.

"The challenge for law enforcement has been that they come up with differnet kind of brand names, and you have to figure out if it has the active ingredients in it that makes it illegal," said Wooten.

The items found in Ramasamy's vehicle were sent to the GBI for testing and were found to be illegal in nature.

At last report Ramasamy remained in jail.
