Gainesville Heat advance through first round of the playoffs

The Gainesville Heat basketball team edged out the Montgomery Blackhawks 131-123 in overtime on Sunday in the first round of the ABA playoffs in Montgomery, Ala.

Heat guard Tracy Lipscomb came up huge in regulation, burying a fourth-quarter 3-pointer to send the contest into overtime.

Roderrick McGahee scored 31 points to pace the Heat, while Javon Randolph added 29 points and Germeil Daniels 28 points.

Gainesville moved on to the second round of the postseason this Sunday against the Charleston Lions for a chance to play in the the quarterfinals in Shreveport, La.
