CUMMING - A man wanted for armed robbery who was the subject of an 11-hour manhunt in south Forsyth County Saturday remained at large at last check.

Authorities called off the search about mid-afternoon Saturday.

Police say Kinnth Battle was one of two men who robbed an Alpharetta convenience store about 3:00 Saturday morning.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/1fZ6vNL) that Battle escaped into some woods and led officers on a foot chase into Forsyth County.

Authorities say he had driven to a residence, ran out the back door and then fled into the wooded area near Georgia 400 and Post and Bethelview roads. Alpharetta police said he appeared to be armed with an AR-15 rifle or similar weapon.

Authorities said another man suspected of being involved in the robbery was apprehended as he hid in a vehicle at the residence.

About mid-afternoon Saturday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office posted a notice on its Facebook page saying "We are closing down our Command Center, but we will keep a large contingency of deputies on patrol in the area. Please call 911 or our non-emergency number at 770-781-3087 if you should see this suspect. After conducting an intensive 11 hour search of a five-square mile area, there is high probability the subject has left the area."
