GAINESVILLE - Representatives from Hall County Government and Habitat for Humanity of Hall County will be on hand Friday and Saturday for the dedication for two new Habitat homes, which were purchased and rehabilitated as part of the County's Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).

The first ceremony is scheduled Friday at 9:30 at a house on Black Drive. The second is Saturday at 9:30 at a house on Autumn Leaf Drive.

Hall County's Neighborhood Stabilization Program utilizes grant funds to purchase and rehabilitate foreclosed homes and then sell them to new owners, stabilizing neighborhoods and getting properties back onto the tax digest in the process. The sale price of the house is based on the total investment that is put into the property. Any income generated by the sale of an NSP home is put back into the Neighborhood Stabilization Program to continue its overall mission.

''Hall County's Neighborhood Stabilization Program is a very positive thing for this community, and we're happy that Habitat can partner with the County in helping residents find much-needed homes,'' said Ann Nixon, director of Habitat for Humanity of Hall County.

As a part of the partnership, Hall County uses NSP funds to purchase homes on behalf of Habitat, who then provides volunteer labor for the home's rehabilitation. Habitat also identifies the home's buyer, who must qualify for purchasing the home under NSP's guidelines and utilizing Habitat's financing methods.

''We're pleased to see families move into these homes,'' Hall County Grants Manager Jessica Robinson said. ''It's always a positive thing to get these homes to the point where they are not hurting the property values of an entire neighborhood and can be added back onto the tax digest.''
