Retired postal worker wins million dollar lottery prize
ATLANTA – A retired U.S. Postal Service worker from Buford is the newest millionaire in north Georgia, according to the Georgia Lottery.
Eddie Beard of Buford recently won $1 million playing the Georgia Lottery’s 20th Anniversary Extravaganza.
Beard purchased his winning ticket from Wee Willy’s #0007, 1875 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Buford, and scratched it inside of the store.
"I was shocked," said the 71-year-old Beard. "I wanted to go to sleep, but I was excited, of course."
Beard retired two years ago from working as a postman. He has no plans yet for his windfall.
