Tarrasch artwork on display at Piedmont's Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art

DEMOREST - Abstract paintings by German artist Jurgen Tarrasch will be on display at the Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art in Demorest now through April 3.

A reception and gallery talk with the artist will be held at 6 p.m., Feb. 20. Admission is free, and the MSMA is located at 567 Georgia Street in Demorest. The museum is open from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, contact director Daniel White at 706-894-4201or dwhite@piedmont.edu.

Tarrasch graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland, with an MFA degree in 1993. In 1999 he moved to Birmingham, Ala., where he has continued to paint and exhibit his works in the U.S. and Europe. He is the recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship in the Visual Art from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and was nominated to Southern Artistry, a multi-disciplinary showcase of outstanding southern artists.
