CUMMING -- The North Forsyth girls won the Region 6-AAAAAA title Tuesday night with a tough 49-45 victory over county-rival South Forsyth.

The win was the eight straight for the Lady Raiders (26-2) and avenged a loss to the Lady War Eagles last month. It was also the first-ever region title for the girls basketball program.

The two teams were locked in a tight duel the entire game. North Forsyth led 16-11 after the first quarter but South Forsyth to tie the game at 30 by halftime.

The Lady Raiders turned up the defense in the second half holding South Forsyth to just 15 points.

Lochlain Corliss had another all-around game for North Forsyth with 13 points, four rebounds, three assits, and four steals before fouling out. Caroline Bowns had 14 points and four rebounds, and Avery Scarbrough added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Raiders.

Sara Myers paced South Forsyth with 24 points. Kenyatte Storms had nine points and Ally Welch eight points for the Lady War Eagles.
