The GHSA has re-set its state basketball tournament dates after this week's winter weather hijacked region tournaments from central Georgia to north Georgia.

The first round of the tournament -- for Classes AA–AAAAAA will tip off Feb. 21-22. Girls games will be scheduled on the first night of each round, boys on the second (save in the rare instances of doubleheaders for teams).

The second round for Classes AA–AAAAAA will take place Feb. 24-25 -- which also be the days for first round games for Class A teams.

Meanwhile, quarterfinal games for Classes AA-AAAAAA and second round games for Class A will be held Feb. 26-27.

Teams that reach the state semifinals will have a quick turnaround, playing Feb. 28 through March 1. Sites for the semifinals -- outside of Class AAAAAA -- have yet to be determined. Class AAAAAA will take place at Georgia Tech. The GHSA has picked five other sites -- Georgia College & State University, Columbus State University, Savannah State University, Ft. Valley State University and Univ. of West Georgia -- but has not yet designated which class will play at each of the sites. An announcement on GHSA.net says that will not occur until after the quarterfinal round.

Northeast Georgia's basketball regions are finally getting back on track with the task of selecting their state tournament representatives this weekend after winter weather derailed those tournaments Tuesday-Thursday.
