GAINESVILLE - The final numbers from the Hall County Emregency Management Agency (EMA) for this week's winter storm show there were actually fewer calls than during the same period last week.

Deputy EMA Director Scott Cagle ran a check from midnight Monday through 1:00 Thursday afternoon when the county's Emergency Operations Center closed.

Total calls county wide 3,281
Of those calls - 93 were wrecks

"During this event we had no major accidents and one fire," Cagle said, while noting that Thursday there were two house fires but they occurred at 3:30 and 4:30, outside the time frame listed above.

Here are the totals from the "exact same" time period a week ago (Feb. 3-6)

Total calls county wide 4,008
Of those calls - 100 were wrecks

Cagle credited the media and the public for helping keep the numbers down.

"So in summary it really does help when our media friends help deliver our message and the citizens then listen to that message."
