Flowery Branch along with Gainesville, Oakwood, and Hall County Tuesday all issued a Declaration of Emergency for the winter weather which is expected Tuesday night into Thursday.

"Basically we are asking everyone to stay off the roads so they can be treated and emergency vehicles can get to the emergency situations," Flowery Branch Mayor Mike Miller said. "There (a forecast for) significant snow and accumulation of ice combined with...winds (that) could bring down trees and power lines."

Miller noted that there has already been one citizen in Sandy Springs that had to be rescued from his car because a tree fell on it.

"This storm is no joke," Miller said. "Please don't let today's snow fool you that things are good. After sundown today things will get extra nasty. Make sure you have water, food, medicines, and a heat source in case of power outages. Please only use 9-1-1 for emergencies."
