MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Peachtree City racer Reed Sorenson has been announced as the new driver for Tommy Baldwin Racing on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit.

Sorenson will join newly hired crew chief Todd Parrott on the No. 36 Chevrolet. He was chosen to take the wheel by Parrott and team owner Tommy Baldwin.

Sorenson said he is excited to be back behind the wheel of a full time Sprint Cup Series entry.

I will give them everything Ive got to perform well, Sorenson said. Im confident with Todds winning resume along with Tommys accomplishments; its going to lead to great things for this team. Im thankful for TBR and all of their partners for allowing me to be their driver. Im looking forward to helping TBR build on what they have already achieved and to help make the team better than they ever have been.

Baldwin said hes impressed with the Georgia drivers resume, and he feels Sorenson is the right guy for the job.

Its cool to have Reed on board driving the No. 36. Ive looked at his statistics and was really surprised at how well hes done, Baldwin said. Its taken six years to get where we are now and the No. 36 car is only two or three years into it so, were slowly building that and were excited to have Reed on board with his experience at such a young age and ability to provide sound feedback to help us do that.

Sorenson began his racing career at six years of age in Quarter Midgets, then moved up to Legends cars, including racing at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton. Sorenson would move his way up to ARCA and the NASCAR Nationwide Series, then would move to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports. He has seen the last three years racing mainly in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
