Hollis named PBC AstroTurf men's basketball Player of the Week
MARTINEZ -– University of North Georgia men's basketball player Ishmael Hollis has been honored by the Peach Belt Conference as its AstroTurf Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Hollis turned in a pair of remarkable games for the Nighthawks, averaging 24.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
He opened with 22 points and eight rebounds in a loss at Georgia Southwestern, then came back with 27 points and six boards in a win at Clayton State.
The senior hit 49% of his field goals and 45% of his three pointers while missing only one of his 14 free throw attempts. He also added a pair of blocked shots.
Hollis is the leading scorer in the PBC with 21.1 ppg, which also puts him in the top 30 nationally. He is also third in the league in rebounding.
North Georgia (7-9, 4-6 PBC) returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 29) when the Nighthawks entertain Columbus State in Memorial Hall. The 7:30 PM tipoff is billed as Military Appreciation Night.
