Pianist Astolfi at Piedmont College Feb. 2
DEMOREST - Piedmont College artist-in-residence Jeri-Mae Astolfi will present a piano concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2, in the college Chapel in Demorest.
Astolfi will perform George Frideric Handel’s “Suite No. 5 in E Major,” “Eight Variations on ‘Come un agnello’” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and “Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel” by Johannes Brahms. The concert is free and everyone is invited. The Piedmont Chapel is located at 595 Central Avenue, Demorest.
Originally from Canada, Astolfi has served on the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and at Henderson State University.
Her repertoire, ranging from the Renaissance era through the present, reflects her interest in new music, which has led her to commission and premiere many new solo and collaborative works featured on live radio broadcasts and released by Albany Records and Ravello Records’ Capstone Collection. Her latest recording, “Here (and there): music for piano and electronics” was released in 2013 on the innova recordings label. Astolfi is the soloist for the Wisconsin Soundscapes commissioning and touring project (sponsored by the Wisconsin Alliance for Composers and the Wisconsin Arts Board) and a founding member, with Holly Roadfeldt, of the duoARtia piano duo.
