GAINESVILLE - Brian Sloan of Chestnut Mountain has announced he will seek re-election to the Hall County School Board Post two.

Sloan has served on the board since 2007.

I am tremendously proud of the students, educators, and my colleagues on the Board in Hall County. Much has been accomplished as we worked together. Even through severe economic conditions, we now have 21 out of our 33 schools that are either Charter schools or Schools of Choice. Now, parents and students have many choices concerning the type of school that is right for their family. We could only imagined this a few short years ago," Sloan said.

The 55-year-old Sloan has a K-through-12 degree in education and attended Hall County Schools for 12 years.

"It has been a privilege to be a part of a Board that functions well together. I hope I am given the opportunity to continue serving with these men of character and integrity. Much has been accomplished under the leadership of Superintendent, Will Schofield, and if Im re-elected, I will be honored to serve another term helping the Hall County School District continue reaching toward excellence," Sloan added.

Sloan is married and has three children.

Mark Pettitt, of Flowery Branch has also announced plans to run for the post.
