Annual Longstreet memorial service, open house is Sun.

GAINESVILLE - The Longstreet Society and the Sons of Confederate
Veterans Camp 1860, Blue Ridge Rifles of Dahlonega will hold their annual graveside memorial service and open house in Gainesville Sunday.
Confederate Gen. James Longstreet lived in Gainesville after the Civil War and died here in 1904. He is buried at Alta Vista Cemetery.
Sunday's events get underway with the memorial service at 1:00 at the cemetery.
Immediately after that the Longstreet Society will host an open house at the Piedmont Hotel at 827 Maple Street, Gainesville. The hotel was owned and operated by Gen. Longstreet and is now the Longstreet Societyís headquarters and features a museum room, library and the room in which Woodrow Wilsonís daughter Jesse was born. Tours of the hotel will be available and light refreshments will be served.
